HFT at TradeTech 2011

This week is TradeTech week in London, which means that all the industry solution vendors and service providers will be out in force at the Excel Centre in Canary Wharf, showing off their latest technology.
TradeTech might have its detractors but I always enjoy it. There’s certainly no other event in the electronic trading industry quite as comprehensive in terms of the number of attendees and exhibitors, so it’s a great place to go if you want to soak up what’s going on in the industry, not just regarding technology but from a business perspective too.
I’ll be there of course, armed with my Flip video camera. I’m planning to do a number of short “on-the-spot” video interviews with any exhibitors who want to take up the challenge of explaining in less than two minutes, what exactly they do and how it benefits the high frequency trading/algo trading community. That should yield some interesting little “elevator pitch” videos, which I’ll put up on the site.
The first day of the event (Tuesday 12th April) is High Frequency Trading Focus Day, where there will be presentations and panel discussions on various topics of interest: regulation; market structures; trading models and strategies; technology; a study of HFT in the US; and an interesting looking debate entitled “Is HFT Good for Your Business, the Market and End Investors?”
I look forward to catching up with some old faces and making some new acquaintances at this year’s TradeTech. So if you’re planning to be there, ping me a message on Twitter @hftreview or just come up and say hello if you see me wandering around.
