In-memory database brings low-latency performance and proven reliability to financial services
Issaquah, WA – November 12, 2012 — McObject®, provider of innovative database solutions for real-time applications, announced today the immediate availability of eXtremeDB Financial Edition, its high-performance, fault-tolerant in-memory database system (IMDS) designed for time-critical capital markets systems such as algorithmic trading, risk management, order matching and quantitative analysis.
McObject also announced that TradeStation Technologies, a Monex Group company (TSE: 8698) and an affiliate of the award-winning broker-dealer and futures commission merchant, TradeStation Securities, plans to adopt eXtremeDB Financial Edition for data management in its next-generation order-execution system. “Our technology differentiates us. Among other awards, Barron’s magazine recognized TradeStation in 2012 for the best trading experience and technology among online brokerages,” said T. Keith Black, TradeStation Technologies’ chief technology officer. “eXtremeDB Financial Edition demonstrated performance that is an order of magnitude better than other DBMSs we evaluated, and we are excited about the end-user benefits it will help to deliver as part of our live trading technology.”
The eXtremeDB product family has a proven track record in embedded systems where it is trusted in millions of deployments, in fields ranging from aerospace to telecommunications, defense and industrial control. eXtremeDB Financial Edition builds on that solid foundation, bringing flexible development tools, high reliability and the lowest possible latency for an IMDS to financial services. The product includes an array of new features built for trading organizations and others developing technology for capital markets.
These features include:
- Support for columnar data storage to improve efficiency in handling time-series data such as trades and quotes. With eXtremeDB Financial Edition, system designers can combine a columnar layout with traditional rows in a single database design, to optimize run-time efficiency.
- A rich library of more than 80 vector-based statistical functions that cut latency in time-series data management and maximize efficiency of L1/L2 cache use.
- Improved clustering technology that boosts distributed database performance and scalability.
- A new GUI database performance monitor, to observe the effect of changes to the database or application on transaction throughput, memory consumption and other key factors when fine-tuning to reduce latency.
eXtremeDB Financial Edition delivers speed without sacrificing reliability. Database transactions fully support the ACID (atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability) properties, while transaction logging provides recoverability. Optional Clustering and High Availability sub-systems distribute the database to multiple hardware nodes, to guarantee uninterrupted processing in the event of failure on one node. A fast, native C/C++ API is type-safe, greatly reducing the potential for run-time bugs. SQL/ODBC, JDBC and native Java and C# APIs are provided as well – development with eXtremeDB Financial Edition is faster, because there are no proprietary languages to learn. All of these features are available at no additional cost.
eXtremeDB Financial Edition is available now through McObject. For pricing, please contact sales@mcobject.com or call 1 (425) 888-8505.
